Family Movie Nights are a great way to bring the family together while having fun. There are so many ways to go about a family movie night. You can fancy it up with decorations and trivia fun or just hang out with your family and a big bowl of buttered popcorn. Family Movie Nights are a tradition here in our family so over the years I have found what works best for us and how to entertain everyone. Now, each family is different which is why I came up with a few tips to make your Family Movie Night a night to remember! (Or, at least a night that you will want to repeat once a month or so.) Check out my tips below and then enter the World Market Movie Lovers Sweepstakes to win some amazing prizes like a $1,000 World Market gift card!

Tips to making your Family Movie Night amazing!

Tip #1

Tailor your movie night to your family’s tastes and likes. It’s one thing to watch a romantic comedy on date night with your significant other, but for family night you want to have a movie your entire family will enjoy. This will all depend on your family and children’s ages of course, but try to find something the whole family will want to watch. You also want to make sure to not leave anyone out when it comes to snacks and decorations. As you can see above, I was sure to buy something each family member would love. Popcorn for my step daughter, Mike & Ikes and Junior Mints for my fiance, and chocolate galore for me! World Market as so many different food & drinks that you won’t have a problem finding something for everyone in your family, even the picky ones! (P.S.- The Bulldog Root Beer is amazing and is perfect for that old school, movie night effect!)

Tip #2

Make a great meal from your family’s favorite restaurant! When my family goes out for movie nights, we always end up going to eat dinner at our favorite restaurant before hand, Olive Garden. What better way to make your family movie night memorable  than to duplicate one of your favorite family restaurant’s recipes! I decided to make an Olive Garden Chicken Parmesan copy cat recipe which was so delicious and my entire family enjoyed it. Making it at home and even having kids involved in the process makes it that much more fun for the entire family. Olive Garden Chicken Parmesan Copy Cat Recipe

Prep: 15 min; Cook: 25min – Difficulty: Easy
Serves 2

Ingredients

* 2 large whole boneless skinless chicken breasts (Use a 1 to 1 ratio for bigger family, ex: 1 chicken breast to 1 person)
* 2 cups dry Italian bread crumbs    *3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (added to bread crumbs for breading)    * 4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, or cooking oil of your choice     * 2 tablespoons unsalted butter     * 1 jar of  Sacla Italia Parmeigiana Pasta Sauce (found at World Market)     * 1-2 cups fresh mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced or shredded    * Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste     *1 egg     *2 cups flour

Prep (optional) – First, take the boneless skinless chicken breasts and pound out to about 1/4 thick. If you choose not to do this, please adjust cooking time in the oven accordingly.

PREHEAT oven to 400 degrees F.

SET the Parmigiana sauce on low heat to warm (it will spread more easily).

THOROUGHLY coat each cutlet with bread crumbs by dipping them first in the flour, then the beaten, raw egg, and then the breadcrumb/Parmesan cheese mixture to give a thick crust. (Tip: You will want to move each one to the hot skillet when breaded so they don’t get soggy.)

SAUTE each coated cutlet on medium-high heat. First, melt the butter with the olive oil in a saute pan. Once completely melted, saute the breaded cutlets until they are deep golden brown on both sides, about 3 minutes or so on each side. Remove to paper towel covered plate to drain.

PLACE 1 cup of the warm parmigiana sauce in the bottom of a baking dish large enough to hold the cutlets in one layer. Add the cooked cutlets to the baking dish. Next, cover the cutlets with the shredded/sliced mozzarella to taste. Pour the remaining sauce over the cutlets

COOK the chicken parmesan in the oven for 12-15 minutes. Depending on the size of your chicken if you didn’t pound out to 1/4 inch, be sure to cook in the oven accordingly.

(As you can see from the picture, we also paired this wonderful Chicken Parmesan with a Fettuccine Alfredo side pasta which went wonderfully with this dish!)

Dessert – Chocolate Chip Rice Krispies Treats

Time: 20min; Difficulty – Easy

Ingredients

*1 stick of unsalted butter    *1 package of mini marshmallows   * 1/2 box of Rice Krispies Original cereal  * 1 bag Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Melting Wafers  *Spatulas (preferably the Wooden Bamboo Spatula and Silicone Spoonula, shown below, from World Market.)   *Sprinkles

Step 1-  In large pot, melt butter over low heat. Once completely melted, add all mini marshmallows and stir with wooden spatula until completely melted. Remove from heat.

Step 2 – Add in Rice Krispies Original cereal and stir.

Step 3- Once completely mixed together, add in 2 cups of Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Melting Wafers.  (Stir only a few times or chocolate will melt completely.) NOTE -The chocolate wafers are better used than chocolate chips because they will still keep most of their shape for that “chocolate chip” texture. Regular chocolate chips would melt completely when added.

Step 4 – Add the Rice Krispie Treat mixture into a 13×9 baking dish. I used the Aqua Silicone Spatula seen below for moving the treats to the baking dish. It easily grabbed all the mixture, but it didn’t stick when spreading the treats. Beyond amazing!  ( I also added a few more crushed Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Melting Wafers on top for an extra crunch.)

Step 5 – Melt 1/2 cup of Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Wafers and drizzle on top. Add sprinkles to taste. (The sprinkles really add a lot of color!)

Tip #3

Have fun!  Make your family night fun and enjoyable for your entire family. Don’t get caught up in the messy dishes or children making a mess of their meals. It is important to remember that this night is about spending time together and having fun with your loved ones. Whether or not your entertaining a family of 8 or you have a family of 2, have fun!
