Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze Review

My step daughter loves anything Monster High! I was so excited when Mattel sent me the Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze Nintendo DS game to review!

First of all, I just want to say how awesome the brand Monster High is. I love that it is a very unique way to incorporate a barbie that is very girly with monsters or monster names to achieve this great brand that is suitable for all girls. I know growing up that I was not a girly-girl at all. I hated barbie dolls. I wish I would have had something so great as Monster High dolls to play with back when I was younger. The brand is perfect for those little girls that just do not like all of the “sparkles and frills” that other girls may like.

The Monster High:Skultimate Roller Maze DS game is rated “E” for everyone, so don’t let the name fool you. In the game you get to choose your favorite character, which mine was Frankie Stein, the daughter of Dr. Frankenstein. Of course, my step daughter is a very girly-girl, so her favorite character is C.A. Cupid, daughter of the Cupid. After you pick your character you get to assemble your team of roller monsters. After your team is assembled you get to race in the roller maze! Each character has a  special ability and “ghoul power”  to use during the race to help you win. The race courses are also super cool because each has it’s own Monster High theme. Of course, you can also change difficulties for each player.

This game reminds me somewhat of a modern day “Mario Kart” for girls. I am giving this game a 4.5 star rating. While I loved playing the game and so will my step daughter, this game is a racing only game. My step daughter and I love “Mario Kart” and she is a big racing game fan, but I know it is not for all girls who may not like racing games. If your little girl is a fan of “Mario Kart” though, then this game is for you! Be sure to put this one on your list of last minute toys to buy!

Excerpt from the Mattel website-

“Hey, ghoul friends! Lace up your skates and get ready for Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze! To play, pick your favorite Monster High character and assemble a team of friends and fiends as you skate through the catacombs of Monster High. Collect power-ups, avoid monstrous obstacles, scream past the competition, and use each character’s special ability and ghoul power to win the race and bring home the victory. This frightfully fun game will teach your little ghoul the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship — as she knocks ’em dead in the Roller Maze!”

Rating: 4.5 Stars – Not every little girl is a racing fan, but if so, be sure to put this on your holiday list to buy!
